Bike

A motorcycle (also called a motorbike, bike, or cycle) is a single-track, engine-powered, two-wheeled motor vehicle. Motorcycles vary considerably depending on the task for which they are designed, such as long distance travel, navigating congested, cruising, sport and racing, or off-road conditions.

Motorcycles are one of the most affordable forms of motorized transport in many parts of the world and, for most of the world's population, they are also the most common type of motor vehicle. There are around 200 million motorcycles (including mopeds, motor scooters and other powered two and three-wheelers) in use worldwide, or about 33 motorcycles per 1000 people. This compares to around 590 million cars, or about 91 per 1000 people. Most of the motorcycles, 58%, are in the developing countries of Asia—Southern and Eastern Asia, and the Asia Pacific countries, excluding Japan—while 33% of the cars (195 million) are concentrated in the United States and Japan. As of 2002, India with an estimated 37 million motorcycles/mopeds was home to the largest number of motorized two wheelers in the world. China came a close second with 34 million motorcycles/mopeds.

--Benefits--

CONGESTION:

Congestion is a big problem in many of the UK’s towns and cities, and nowhere more so than in the capital. London’s congestion charge has proved a success and now the charge looks set to be enforced in other major cities. Luckily for riders, Scooters and motorbikes are exempt from congestion charges, meaning you can travel wherever you like without the extra financial burden. Travelling on two wheels doesn’t only save you money, it saves you time as well! On a scooter or motorcycle you can easily negotiate traffic jams and leave all the queues behind.

PARKING:

Parking is a nightmare at the best of times, but if you live in London or another major city, it can be impossible! Even when you do manage to find a space, it is often far away from where you need to be and very expensive. If you ride a motorbike or scooter, parking is much easier! Not only do you not need as much space to park, but you can often park in areas where cars are not allowed. In addition to this you’ll often find that parking for motorcycles and scooters is free!

RUNNING COSTS:

With soaring oil prices, the cost of fuel is reaching record highs. Many motorists are switching to scooters and motorbikes for economic reasons alone. A 125cc machine will typically cost less than 10 pence per mile to run and many scooters can achieve 100mpg, making them far more fuel efficient than cars or trucks. In addition to the obvious fuel savings, switching to two wheels will also save you money on road tax, servicing and insurance, as well as reducing your carbon footprint.

--Disadvantages--

Motorcycles have several disadvantages over other modes of transport as the cars; they are limited on carriage, in case of accidents you are prone to get hurt more for there no cabins to protect you, the chances of being sold fake spares than a Yamaha part, not safe to use in some climates and weather, unsafe to use especially at night and in places where security is not assured.

As your body changes the motocross gear needed for riding may stop fitting you well hence you have to buy a new one. This does not only affect the riding gear but your ability to ride especially when you have an increase in weight. So in motorcycle first you need the riding gear which you may be replacing constantly thus it’s a recurring cost.

The motorcycle accessories have been dubbed by fraudsters so much that it is hard to differentiate the fake from the genuine ones. This is a cost to you for you will keep buying non lasting spares and the government for taxes; are evaded. Also the counterfeits have lowered the demand for bikes.

The safety of the motorcycle is limited in riding; in case of mishaps, rainy and stormy weather, at night and in some places where you can get shot directly or a rope is used to choke you so that the bike can be stolen. Also when it comes to storage or parking they are prone to stealing especially the fox racing products.
